Angelfish, just because!

Angelfish, just because!

Like most aquarium owners, I think, sometimes I just sit and lose track of time watching my fish. 🙂  It’s hard to share that experience, really, but I can at least try to share the fish.  Here are the current members of the Angelfish Singles Club 😀  (I have the suspicion that they’re all male, which is both really inconvenient and rather statistically unlikely. XD) (At some point I need to do something to minimize glare/reflections on this tank… it’s…

State of the Fishroom, Part II: Angelfish!

State of the Fishroom, Part II: Angelfish!

My angelfish have become my major focus lately.  Aside from the Philippine blues from AngelMania, I’ve obtained a few golds and gold marbles.  The golds are here in hope of breeding with the blues and (eventually) breeding platinums.  (Platinum angels have 2 gold genes and 2 blue genes, so it’s going to take a couple of generations to get that done!)  The marbles are just attractively marked. ;D Fortunately for the platinum effort, my first breeding pair is a male…

State of the Fishroom, Part I

It’s been quite a while since I’ve posted an update!  Lots of things have been happening: comings and goings, fry, new tanks, and so on.  This is going to have to be a multi-post update for sure, lol. First things first, plans! I’m looking at giving away a number of my bettas.  As I said to Kari a bit ago, you can’t really expand around bettas, since they usually need to be kept alone :/  And maintaining them all separately…

Angelfish, 4 weeks in

Angelfish, 4 weeks in

The angels are all doing quite well, even the little gimpy Pinoy, who I’ve dubbed Tiny Tim. :p   He’s still the smallest fish in the tank now, but no longer hangs back by himself.  I gave the tank a week course of Melafix.  There are definitely people in the hobby who will swear up and down that Melafix and Pimafix don’t work, and are dangerous.  Every medication is dangerous, aren’t they?  And like all the other fish medications out…

Movin’ on up

Movin’ on up

I moved the new angelfish out of the quarantine tank into their new home last night.  They seem to be settling in fine, and interestingly, they’re displaying their fins a lot more now that they have more space.  The widefins in particular look a lot more impressive, even at their tiny size, with their dorsals raised all the way up. (No pics of the new tank yet — I forgot to sink my driftwood beforehand so I’ve just got this…

A beginning

A beginning

While I’ve been fishkeeping for about 6 months now, I finally decided to crack open a blog to keep track of my fish, because I’ve just received a passel of gorgeous angelfish that I hope to breed when they’re grown. 😀  These are all blues from AngelMania, and were received 12/8/2017, shockingly all in apparent good health, given that they were mailed on the 4th!!  They appeared to get lost in the postal system for several days, and I was…
